Interpreting Report On Manufacturing Videos

Video translation without subtitles is a relatively new form of translation which combines the translation skills of written translation and interpretation,but is different from them.The topic of translation project within this thesis is to translate the manufacturing-related videos(without subtitle).Manufacturing is a significant manifestation of our comprehensive national power.As our country put forward “Made in China 2025” policy,it boasts practical significance to explore the translation of manufacturing.This report is based on the translation of manufacturing-related videos to analyze the language features of manufacturing context,differences among translation,interpretation and video materials,as well as the difficulties in the project.This thesis also analyzes the translation strategies by adopting interpretative theory.According to the case study,it can be figured out that general translation strategies like addition,ellipsis and fuzzy translation are widely used in this project.The first part is an introduction of project background information and manufacturing videos,the reason why writer chooses this topic as well as its significance;the second part talks about the features of manufacturing context and professional terms;the third part analyzes the differences among video translation,written translation and interpretation,and also point out the difficulties in video translation and relevant solutions;the fourth part mentions the interpretive theory and translation strategies;while the last part points the findings of the project and limitations in video translation.Through the discussion of manufacturing video translation without subtitles,this thesis can help most of translation-major students to have a general knowledge of this relatively new translation and manufacturing,and provoke their thoughts about this industry.
