Under the background of expanding Mandarin to the whole world by Chinese government, people request much more to the professionality of Mandarin teacher. What kinds of quality do the teacher need, and what kinds of special quality which are different from the other teachers do they need become a hot spot in Mandarin teacher research.Afer organizing and analysing the present studies about the quality of Mandarin teacher, the author found that these studies have conveied various qualites of Mandarin teacher, but most of them are only explained theoretically without being supported by samples, and whether these qualities are only adaptive to Mandrin Teaching needs to be proved. Therefore, after comparing Mandarin Teaching with the other teachings, the author shows the ways of using teachers'initiative in 3 steps of Mandarin class: class preparation, class-on, class-after. This description is proved by one listening Mandarin class which was taught by myself, aiming to reveal methods of solving passive situations which were encoutered by Mandarin teachers. On the other hand, after combining with the tendency of Mandarin globlization, the author thinks that the initiative should be one of the Mandarin teaching principles, for the sake of expaning Chinese culture and building a Chinese image better.Comparing with formation of teachers'knowledge structure, the formation of their quality structure seems more hard and time-consuming. What's more, teachers'quality structure proved to be more significant in Mandrin class and will affect the development of the knowledge part. This thesis only discusses one part called'initiative'of teachers'quality stucture, and there are shortcomings more or less because of the limitation of my own abilities. I hope this study will help Mandarin Teaching and Mandarin study.
