MuDan should not be neglected in the history of modern Chinses poetry. The problem which has more influence on MuDan between Chinese and western culture has always been a hot issue in MuDan study. The modern style of poetry and the ultimate concern is important part of western resources, from these two angles, this paper reveals his contribution to modern Chinses poetry is more influenced by western culture, this is not like most scholars acknowledge that:MuDan accomplished his greatness under the fusion of Chinese and western culture. Instead, Chinese and western culture in MuDan's poetry doesn't match perfectly, his poetry reveals a series of Chinese and western culture conflict phenomenons, such as, the devision between dim consciousness and the light consciousness, the tension between the self-awareness of romantic poezio and anatman consciousness in Chinese traditional culture, the contradiction between god concept in western culture and lack in Chinese culture, the difference between western prayers confession language and Chinese lyric language. The reasons why these Chinese and western culture conflict phenomenons happen in MuDan's poems are the unique survival experiences of poet, thoughts of "west used for reference" and the development characteristics of modern Chinese poetry, these determine that MuDan's poems are always in the way of thinking "Chinese learning as the body, western learning to use". This affects the poet's creation, deep narrow nationalism makes him fail to go into the depth of western resources and new style which modern poem demands, MuDan can make a leap which fills Chinese poetry with the modern consciousness, but such cultural conflicts limit his poetry level that he should originally reach.
