Eliot,a modernist poet in England and America, has outstanding and profound thinking on the expression of life consciousness in poetry, and is quite different from his predecessors in the way of expression. When the modernist writing method was introduced into China,Mu Dan,a representative of the Jiuye School of poetry, also brought the problem of life into his poetry and tried to learn this writing method. They have similarities in the tension of life, the attitude towards life, the meaning of life, the construction of life and how life should go through. This paper is committed to close reading of the text, through literature review, comparative study of the two people from the perspective of life consciousness and aesthetics,in order to explore their value orientation in thinking and expression of life. This paper is divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction mainly summarizes the research status of Eliot and Mudan at home and abroad, and focuses on the part of their attention to life, and puts forward some problems on this basis. In view of this problem, this paper clarifies the research neighborhood, research methods, innovation and practical significance. The first part of the text discusses the life standard, focusing on the exploration of the essence of life, dilemma, meaning and other aspects in their poems. From the existence of life and the value choice of life.Vertically, life is a process of time, which will encounter different life forms, facing different life difficulties, how to go has become an important issue for the two people to explore.Horizontally, everyone exists independently in this world. How to choose the value and how to deal with it have become an important part of their thinking. The second part of the text discusses the differences in life, which will be combined with the differences in the expression of life in their poems. This paper compares the different forms of expression in three aspects: the source of life, the process of life and the end of life.Due to the differences of country, nationality, cultural background and expression habits, they have different understanding of life and different forms of expression in poetry. In this part, through the interpretation and comparison of the emotional content, image, language form and other aspects of their poems, the author explores the religious tradition of Eliot’s man-made things and the understanding of Mudan’s natural view of life;Eliot uses secular images,Mudan uses natural images to describe the process of life;Eliot regenerates in destruction, and Mudan sublimates his life feelings in shouting. The third part discusses the art of poetry and how to be a perfect poet in poetry creation. Both can be called perfect poets.Through the comparative study of their poems,we can find the way to become a perfect poet."Meaning" and "art" make poetry become poetry.Only by choosing the right "objective counterpart" and giving full play to subjective initiative can we create excellent poetry. This paper will also use the theory of "impersonality" and "objective counterpart" to compare the images in their poems, and focus on the content that has been solidified in the poetic language, that the poet does not consciously in the process of writing, and that the reader "understands" in the process of reading. They expressed their understanding of life and its flow with the poet’s unique perceptual ability, touching the most essential and practical aspects of life. Both of them live in the era of war and have experienced the most cruel life experience. They have suffered a lot both physically and mentally.Their thinking about life will be more profound.Life is an eternal proposition in poetics. The study of their poems is of great significance to the study of this proposition.
