Recently, every country around the world are making efforts for globalization in overall aspect of politics, economy, society and culture. Accordingly, people in those countries are also increasingly paying attention to other languages besides the international language, English. In accordance with such international trend, Korea is also beginning to stress on the languages and cultures of other countries and the education of foreign languages.Owing to development of information technology, utilization of video media is getting greater in education. A two-dimensional education method using the given text only is no longer attracting students' interest in learning. Therefore, when teaching a foreign language, best possible three-dimensional and diversified media should be utilized to arouse learners' interest in learning.The purpose of this study is to find out an effective education for Korean children in teaching Chinese utilizing video media such as cartoon films. Teaching foreign language using video media provides effective environment for communication and substantial language contents so that learners can get more effectiveness in learning through such indirect experiences. However, most of video materials for audio-visual lecture for Chinese in Korea are drama or movie but, by contrast, cartoon films are used relatively less frequently. On the other hand, there are many studies for effective education of Chinese language using Chinese or other foreign video media. But there is few study for teaching Chinese to Korean children utilizing Korean cartoon films. Hence, this study made an audio-visual teaching plan utilizing a Korean cartoon "Porongporong Pororo".The text is divided into four parts.In the first part, the background and purpose of this study was mentioned and the status of Chinese researches related to this study was briefly introduced. In the second part, the theoretical background was described. This part covered the characteristic of audio-visual education and the value of cartoon films as language teaching material.In the third part, the animation "Porongporong Pororo" was introduced-the background story and characters. And this part also introduced its value of usefulness in teaching Chinese for children. The major topic of the fourth part is designing Chinese audio-visual education curriculums for Korean children. Above all, two aspects of teaching Chinese, listening and speaking, were divided into four steps; a preliminary step before audio-visual material, a audio-visual step, a reinforcement step, a summary step. And then concrete teaching methods were suggested for the exercise of two language functions, listening and speaking. Each teaching method was suggested with examples of utilizing "Porongporong Pororo". Lastly, one piece among 52 series of Chinese version "Porongporong Pororo" was selected and designed for audio-visual lecture of Chinese language for Korean children.I hope this study be helpful to the Chinese lecture for Korean children.
