E.M. Forster is famous for his significant subject and means of artistic expression; he is one of the most important writers in the history of English literature in twentieth century. Although he is not a prolific writer, his criticism on English "undeveloped heart" and his pursuit of humanistic connection both earned his an outstanding position in modern English literature. It is not difficult to find that few people has taken death as a separate subject combined with archetype theory to analyze Forster's works in the past decade. This thesis focuses on Forster's novels and aiming at detecting the changing process of Forster's humanistic connection. A detailed analysis of differentiated depictions of death images by applying Jung's theory of Persona archetype reveals to tell us that death neither could be used to awaken people's lust for life nor to realize his desire for connect notion. Through the description of death on both body and mind, we can also find that Christianity in Forster's mind collapsed gradually. From the description of death images in Forster's works and the analysis of Forster's age we can see that:crisis in culture and beliefs in 19th century is the main course of Forster's such expression, to some extent, also the inducement of the inflation of Jung's Persona archetype. In the last part of this thesis the writer presented the relationship among Forster's death images, Forster's humanistic connection and Jung's Persona archetype theory:Each of the three elements is fueled by the others and each proves the others.
