Yubei Four Strands String Opera Music Research

Yubei Si gu xian is a traditional local drama which is popular in north area of Henan province.It gets its name of the presided instruments have four strings which is called "Si gu xian'in Chinese. It has sprightly rhythm.beautiful and pleasing melody and a strong flavor of rural life. So it is deeply loved by the local people.Si gu xian has a history about two hundred years since it was bron. But it has became in endanger nowadays because of many reasons and has been listed as an endangered drama. We should focus and ponder its decline as a national culture resource.This thesis makes a preliminary investgation and research on Yubei Si gu xian based on field investigation and relevant literature. It consists of preface, four chapters and epilogueChapter one:This chapter introduces the origin, development, present state and main repertoire of Si gu xian.and proves the historical origins of Yubei Si gu xian by studing at the relevant literature and repertoire;and generalize the present situation of Yubei Si gu xian.Chapter two:This chapter makes a reseach on main play and music ontology of Yubei Si gu xian. The author introduces the aria structure and characteristic feature on structure of music, melody, musical scale, rhythm, and so on by recorded papers.Chapter three:This chapter discussed in details from the accompaniment of musical instruments and instrumental tune, etc., and introduces the band composition of Yubei Si gu xian.Chapter four:This chapter detailed introduces the social function and aesthetic choice of Yubei Si gu xian, and summarize the limitation in modern life by the present state investgation of Yubei Si gu xian.The author hopes this paper can be helpful to the research of central plains traditional drama, and Yubei Si gu xian can be handed down as a precious traditional drama.
