Being one of Confucian's Thirteen Classics, Filial Piety has its relatively unique position. On the one hand, its relatively short in length, the contents are easy to understand, but as the case, it can become well-known classic; and on the other hand, due to some extrinsic reasons such as historians'inaccurate records, biblioclast of Qin Shi Huang, chaos of Liang dynasty and doubt after Song dynasty, making Filial Piety becomes an endless controversial book.Until the Emperor Tang Xuan Zong's Royal Note of Filial Piety, the dispute of present and ancient edition, note of Zheng and Kong appears to have settled, Filial Piety began to move toward reunification in Scripture and the understanding. Tang Xuan Zong's Royal Note of Filial Piety, as the most important and popular version of Filial Piety in history, becomes an academic focus since it appears. Confucians Yuan Xingchong writes a commentary for it at the same time, which is a unique thing, and it makes the impact of the book could be more far-reaching. Northern Song Dynasty, Xing Bing proofread the commentary, and combine the note of Tang Xuan Zong and the commentary proofread by himself into a book named Note and Commentary of Filial Piety, which plays a very important role in the inheritance of the note of Royal Note of Filial Piety, and also it expanded the effect of Royal Note of Filial Piety. Later, although other Emperors note Filial Piety in the need of consolidates their rule, they can't surpass Tang Xuan Zong's note.Since Tang Xuan Zong's Royal Note of Filial Piety could play such an important role in the history of Filial Piety, except Tang Xuan Zong's statue as an Emperor, its own content and ideas should be very worthy of being studied. But now the research of Royal Note of Filial Piety mostly concentrated in its status and influence, or from a perspective of philology, the compare of Royal Note of Filial Piety and other notes, and the compare of initial note and the second note. But the research of thought is mainly focused on the book of Filial Piety, and has been a lack of research for Royal Note of Filial Piety. This article is based on this situation, regarding the thought of Tang Xuan Zong's Royal Note of Filial Piety as the research object, discussing the reason why Tang Xuan Zong notes the book of Filial Piety and how he notes it. The author of this article uses some major methods including historical research, textual analysis, comparative study to research, consider Royal Note of Filial Piety as the main text, and I read other notes of Filial Piety and some relevant literature of Filial Piety, at the same time, I widely read many historical events recorded books, and found that Tang Xuan Zong notes for Filial Piety for both the chaos of the old notes and the need for rule, which makes his note use the elite in old note, and also must express his hidden purpose to persuade of loyalty, so the note of Royal Note of Filial Piety, including both academic continuity, and the characteristics of political popularity, it is precisely because of this two aspects of characteristics, Royal Note of Filial Piety could gain a high status in the history of Filial Piety.
