The Investigation And Research On The "First National Quyi Performance Conference"

In 1958, the whole China was gung to take the socialist construction. The art of Quyi (Story Felling) developed quickly and against this background, three festive were held in succession----the first national Quyi(Story Felling) performance conference, national Quyi work festive and the first conference for representatives of Quyi practitioners. These events played an important role for the development and prosperity of the socialist new Quyi. The success of the first national Quyi performance conference signaled the first thunder of the socialist new folk Quyi movement, thereafter, the wide spreading of it. From then on, the Quyi entertainers retook the historical stage as Quyi artists in China and wrote a new chapter of Quyi.This paper takes the "first national Quyi festive as the study object. Using the study methods in history and ethnomusicology, it expatiates the entire process of the performance by collecting relative materials and field work. The paper discusses the performance's positive and negative impacts on Quyi's development and the general public's cultural life on the political and cultural background at that time. It analyzes the festive thoroughly and makes an objective and fair judgment of it. It recognizes the festival practical significance and cultural value from a historical point of view. Based on historical experience, it contributes a lot in the development and protection of the traditional cultural heritage.
