| This paper looks into Chinese and African museum practices to engage inheritors and audiences in living heritage restoration through six case studies, emphasizing the living characteristic of intangible heritage and its connection to people through the museum as facilitators. China and the Africa continent have abundant intangible cultural heritage assets but less developed museum system support than those in the western world. Whilst thorough research was conducted regarding to intangible heritage with growing awareness of the humanities' legacy in these areas, the intangible heritage is dead and stuffed in archives and documentations. Museums play a vital role in presenting living intangible cultural heritage to the public and restoring the transmission of living heritage between generations. |
