As a plucked wood musical instrument of long history, bassoon has a position as important as other musical instruments in the international music stage. It is one of the four major musical wood instruments in the western symphony orchestra, accompanying with the flute,Oboe and Clarinet. Moreover, bassoon is the basal Bass instrument. Bassoon music has large reservoir of works and is able to perform music ranging from Baroque to modern times. Especially, during the golden period of the development of bassoon in 1980s in china, there emerged a group of talented composers and performers in the circle of bassoon, among whom Jin Xiang is one of the most important, creating large number of musical works to tap the potential of bassoon performing.Jin Xiang's works are graceful and noble in style and rich in form of performance, inherited the Composition Techniques in western world with the Aesthetic tradition of the culture in china. As a bassoon performer, the author is fond of his works, especially the piece of bassoon concerto Huan, famed as the most difficult bassoon works to be performed of the bassoon musical works in china. The difficulty lies not in the complexity of performing technique but in the comprehension and mastery of the music.The first chapter is the introduction of the musician and the basic situation in which the works is created with the purpose of presenting a preliminary illustration of the bassoon music as well as the musician and his works. The second chapter is the artistic analysis of the music itself from the various perspective of tune, mode of music, chord, texture and rhythm. The third chapter is the expounding of the difficulty in performing technique, integrated with the author's own performing experience. The fourth chapter is the comprehensive evaluation about the philosophical works of the composer's creative content and aesthetic concepts. From the social and historical cultural background the composer lives in to national aesthetic tradition, one can better understand the musical style of the composer as well as the composer's emotions.
