The topic about literature adaptation of film is an old saying,meanwhile a new one. Since for a long time,the most important problem of studying it is that along with the flourishing development of the film,film adaptation has fell into a dilemma that it looks for a standard of appreciation from other art categories.A large number of film adaptations are appraised by a standard of literature narrative from literature view. nevertheless, a fact is neglected that they are two different art media.this produced the differences of narrative ways. Because the aristic characters of film are neglected,the film's development is influenced. The film adaptation of novels is playing an key role in narrative activities of transmedia. In fact,the process of adaptation is a narrative transforming one that takes place between different art media.The film adaptation of the novel ----the living,is an example in the essay.There are several tasks in the essays. On one hand, the impressive comments or abstract theory deduction is casted off that is formed before. On the other hand,the narrative transforming from novel version to film version is analysed carefully. What is more,one own conclusion is drawn from the special view-----media,in order that we can offer a practicable,helpful advice for film adaptation of Chinese nowadays.In the chapter of introduction, the theories about narrative are written and the current situation of the film adaptation and theory study is inquired into.Following this,the changes are studied that are narrative ways from novel to film. There are three sides about the changes.They are about reestablishing narrative objects and views,adjusting scenes and characters and changing narrative time -space. In the second chapter,the changes of narrative ways are analysed in adapting.Iin other word, the change is from words to images.In the third chapter,the condition is written that material carrier influences story change. In a word, the conclusion is drawn that from novel to film it is not about accepting or rejecting of content elements but about producing and changing between media and languages. Even though the narrative change problem is analyzed carefully from novel to film on the base of reading, what was done is preliminary and plain. The writer's exposition and find are limited in a sence. On one hand,it is partly because of writer's theory level. On the other hand, it is difficult to master all narrative ways about film.What's more,it is because of single study examples.
