Some of his students have already become the leading members of Henan music educational field. By the ways of personal interview, documents, comprehensive analysis and so on, this thesis systemically combs Mr. Zhang's art career and teaching methods. This thesis consists of the following parts:The introduction briefly introduces the significance of this paper and literature review.Chapter One introduces Mr. Zhang's life experiences. It starts from Mr. Zhang's childhood to his teens. Mr. Zhang began to work in his youth, so the period from his youth to his retirement is detailed here.Chapter Two mainly explores Mr. Zhang's teaching. Because Mr. Zhang taught courses—Erhu and music theories, this chapter is related to them. As for the teaching of Erhu, it can be divided into three levels: first, the studies of teaching materials; second, laying the foundation, the stress of tradition and the bold making of innovation; third, focusing on the combination of the theory and the practice. For the music theories, it also can be divided into three parts: the combination of the basic theories and the listening practice; the innovation in the traditional teaching methods—"four points"in reading music; adjusting teaching methods in time according to students'feedback.Chapter Three is about Mr. Zhang's significant contribution to Henan music education during his life time and his works, by interviewing his closet students such as Professor Sun, Jingcheng who is the tutor of the paper's author, his colleague Professor Hong, Buling who worked with him at that time, and Mr. Feng's wife. At last the author interviews Mr. Zhang's last pupil—Tian, Meng who majored in Erhu—after he retired. Through their memories and description of Mr. Zhang, the author is deeply impressed by Mr. Zhang. The author hopes that the later generations keep Mr. Zhang in their minds. The conclusion is the impression towards Mr. Zhang by interviewing him, and the author has great admiration for Mr. Zhang's spirits.
