Objective:To describe a multidisciplinary conservative approach of cases with subgingival tooth defect of maxillary anterior teeth. Methods:Related literatures were reviewed. In practice, clinical and radiological examinations were carried out on cases of subgingival tooth defect of maxillary anterior teeth, with multidisciplinary analysis and diagnosis to formulate a therapeutic schedule and prognosis criterion. Root canal therapy, crown lengthening (orthodontic extrusion and/or crown lengthening surgery), and post-core-crown restorations were performed on the selected cases with indication, and the short-term treatment effects were evaluated in the follow-up visits.Result:After crown lengthening (orthodontic extrusion and/or crown lengthening surgery), gingiva and papilla of maxillary anterior teeth recovered well in principle. Restorations also had fit margins, good retention, satisfactory contour and color. The short-term follow-up results were good. Conclusion:A multidisciplinary approach to the management of subgingival tooth defect of maxillary anterior teeth is necessary for successful treatment, while the long-term follow-up result needs a further observation.
