[Objective] Investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and chinese medicine treatment on sudden deafness, analyze the related factors that cause sudden deafness and propose method for detection and treatment.[Methods] QiZhiXueYu is the common reason of sudden deafness and thus the patients selected through differentiation of symptoms and signs all belong to QiZhiXueYu style. Clinical experiments were carried out with multiple center and random control arrangement. Sixty Two Patients with primary sudden seneorineural hearing loss were selected and randomly divided into two groups. Group A of thirty one patients were treated with acupuncture and TongQiaoHuoXue and Xuesaitong injection therapy while group B with alprostadil infusion therapy and mixture treatment. Group A patients were acupunctured Tinggong, Ermen, TingHui, Yifeng, WaiGuan. ZuSanLi, TaiXi,ZhongChu, HeGu, SanYinJiao acupoints. Each course of treatment lasted for14days and the patients were observed on the1stday,8thday and15thday. Observations were followed up for1month. Clinical data include pure tone audiometry and acoustic immittance inspection and Statistical analysis were carried out to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture and Chinese medicine.[Results] There were significant differences compared the acupuncture group to the control group (P<0.05). Sixteen patients of group A (acupuncture treatment) were cured with a51.6%cure rate, six persons of which with notable effect (19.4%), eight persons effect (25.8%) and only one person useless (3.2%). The total effective ratio is96.8%compared with77.4%of group B. In group B (control), seven patients were recovered (22.6%), eight persons with notable effect (25.8%), night persons effective (29.0%) and seven persons with no effect (22.6%).In group A, fourteen people recovered from tinnitus (50.0%), six with marked effect (21.4%), seven with effect (25.0%) and one with no effect (3.6%). Six persons (22.2%) were cued with tinnitus through group B therapy, eight with marked effect (29.6%), eleven with effect (40.7%) and two with no effect (7.4%). In the treatment of faint, A group has five person cured (26.3%), five with marked effect (26.3%), eight with effect (42.1%) and one with no effect (5.3%), while B group has five person cured (29.4%), two with marked effect (11.8%), nine with effect (52.9%) and one with no effect (5.9%). These two groups have no significant difference in deal with tinnitus and faint (P>0.05)[Conclusion] Acupuncture and Decoction have a better clinical efficacy on sudden deafness inflammation than the control group.
