Objective To analyze the different levels of serum vaspin in humans with different glucose tolerance and weight. Find the correlation of vaspin with glucose and lipid metabolism as well as insulin resistance and body fat parameters, and investigate the correlation of vaspin with type the gain of weight and glucose regulation. Methods All the objects classified of normal glucose tolerance, impaired glucose regulation and type 2 diabetes group according to the level of glucose tolerance. Each group classified of normal weight and over weight or obese (body mass index≥25 kg/m2).Age and sex has no significant difference in each group. ELISA was used to assess circulating vaspin levels. Measured the glucose metabolism parameters including FPG, FCP, FINS, HbA1c, lipid metabolis mparameters including TC, TG, HDL-c, LDL-c calculated insulin resistance parameters HOMA—IR and body fat parameters including BMI,WC,WHR. The diversification and relationship between vaspin and these parameters in each group was analyzed. Results Serum vaspin levels in T2DM and IGR were significantly higher than in NGR; there was not significantly different between T2DM and IGR; the concentrations of vaspin in obese and female individuals were significantly higher than those in non-obese and male. Pearson relation analysis showed that serum vaspin concentrations were positively correlated with sex, WC, BMI, FPG, HOMA-IR, FCP, HbA1c, WHR, FINS, CHO and LDL-C. Multiple stepwise regression analysis sex,BMI and FPG were independent variables of vaspin. Conclusions Elevated vaspin serum concentrations are associated with overweight or obesity and increased glucose level. There is a sexual dimorphism in vaspin serum concentrations.
