Objective: Somatotype is an important index to evaluate physique and figure of a person,which can well measure shape characteristic of different parts of the body. So adopting Heath-Carter anthropometric method to contrast the somatotype characteristic of the cerebral apoplexy and healthy adult from Dalian city,we hope that this study can provide an indirect basis for early screening of cerebral apoplexy.Method: Adopting Health-carter anthropometric method we randomly choose 150 patients (75 men and 75 women) with cerebral apoplexy, who were treated or hospitalized in Neurology Department of the Hospital Attached to Dalin Medical University, and 150 healthy people (75 men and 75 women) from Physical Examination Center of Dalian city. After measuring 10 morphological indices, including body height, body mass, the thickness of the skin fold at triceps brachii muscle, subscapularis, anterior superior iliac spine and leg, upper-arm tension circumference, leg circumference, humeral distal and proximal widths. All the data were put into the computer, and edited to calculated the values of endomorphic, mesmorphic and ectmorphic, and therefore caculating the somatype of Dalian healthy adult andcerebral apoplexy patient, then explored the relationship between the values of Heath-Carter anthropometric and cerebral apoplexy and make gender and disease.difference comparison.Result: The values of Dalian healthy adult (1) men & women: 4.51 -3.85-1.94& 5.64-4.62-1.66 .They all belong to mes-endomorphy group. The values of endomorphic factors and mesmorphic factors in healthy females are higher than that in healthy males(P<0.05). The somatotype values of cerebral apoplexy patients men&women: 7.32-4.08-1.71& 9.01 -7.05-1.23 They all belong to mes-endomorphy group. The values of endomorphic factors in cerebral apoplexy group are higher than that in healthy group, and the values of mesmorphic factors in females cerebral apoplexy group are higher than that in healthy group; the difference ii striking, and therefore with satistical value.(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1. Somatotype of healthy adults (50-65 years old) in Dalian Region belongs to mes-endomorphy type, which is in accodance with North Asia somatotype .2. The values of endomorphic factors in both males and females of cerebral apolexy patient are higher than that of healthy group; the values of mesmorphic factors of female cerebral apolexy patient are higher than healthy female group,which indicate the fat content in cerebral apolexy patient is higher than that of the healthy group of the same age. Besides, the female cerebral apolexy patients have relatively developed Musculoskeletal system than that of the healthy women.3. The values of endomorphic factors may lead to higher rate of cerebral apoplexy,so the values of endomorphic factors can be used as an element to predict cerebral apolexy.
