Objective: To investigate how the neurons which gain Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) distribute in the trigeminal ganglion of rats, and how the neurons administrate the tissues of eye. To study the relations of algesthesia of intraocular tissues and CGRP.Methods: Five rats were divided a saline-treated group, a bulbar conjunctiva- and a palpebra superior-injected group, a bulbar conjunctiva-injected group, a palpebra superior-injected group and anterior chamber-injected group. 2% Fluoro-Gold was injected into bulbar conjunctiva, palpebra superior or anterior chamber. The number of neurons which were dyed by FG was counted in trigeminal ganglion respectively. Neurons of trigeminal ganglion which gain CGRP was display by immunohistochemistry. Furthermore the number of neurons which were labeled by FG and immunohistochemistry also was counted. Results: The neurons marked by FG are all observed in a bulbar conjunctiva-injected group, a palpebra superior-injected group and anterior chamber-injected group. And there are some quantitive difference of the groups. Few neurons of trigeminal ganglion are not only dyed by FG but also reacted with antibody of CGRP. Conclusions: Neurons contained CGRP in trigeminal ganglion administrate the tissues of eye and involve the management of algesthesia of eye in some way.
