Objective To analysis Bicyclol'effect on serum MDA level in CHB patients before or after therapy, biochemical indicator, AFPand PTA through the treatment of CHB by bicyclol; To research MDA's effect on liver injury and bicyclol's protective action to liver injury. Methods Selecting eighty-five cases of CHB patients in Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University who received hospitalization or treatment service in Infectious Diseases Section from September 2008 to September 2009. These patients were divided into control group and observation group. Forty cases of CHB patients were in control group, and they received symptomatic treatment like normal protecting liver, relieving jaundice and so on. Forty-five cases were in observation group. Based on the general treatment, they received the use of oral bicyclol three times a day and 25mg once. Collecting these patients'serum before the treatment and after three months treatment (which were stored at -80°C refrigerator) to detect the level of MDA by using the chemical method, moreover, observing the changes of ALT, AST, TBIL,ALB, PTA and AFP. Results 1,After 3 months of treatment, the level of MDA in observation group and control group decreased and obviously decreased in observation group. There were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). 2,After 3 months of treatment, all the ALT, AST, TBIL decreased in two groups and obviously decreased in the observation group. There were significant differences between the two groups (each P<0.001); The ALB in both groups increased, but no remarkable difference (P >0.05). 3,After three months of treatment, the AFP of thirty-five cases returned to normal and that of ten cases was still abnormal in observation group; the AFP of twenty cases returned to normal and twenty cases were still abnormal in control group. There were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.001). 4,After three months of treatment, the PTA also significantly increased in observation group compared to control group, besides, the PTA of patients in observation group all returned to normal while the PTA of twenty-nine cases returned to normal and eleven cases were still abnormal in control group. However, there was no remarkable difference between the two groups (P >0.05). Conclusion Bicyclol can effectively decrease the serum MDA level in CHB patients. It suggests that bicyclol plays an obvious role in antilipid peroxidantion; Bicyclol has a significant protective effect on liver, thus, it has the actions of improving the liver function of patients with viral hepatitis by decreasing the elevate levels of ALT, AST, TBIL, increasing ALB and recovering PTA . Bicyclol can decrease AFP value in CHB patients and to some extent, prevent and reduce canceration rate in CHB patients.
