Objective:In present study an in vivo Titanium particles induced mouse calvarial ostelysis model was used to investigate the inhbitoy effect of erythromycin and alendronate over Titanium particles induced osteolysis. Methods : Forty Female eight-week-old BALB/C species mice were randomly divided into 5 groups.8 in each grop.Control group (A) received sham operation; Titanium particles grop (B)received 30 mg Titanium particles implantation onto the calvariae ; alendronate group (C) received 30 mg Titanium particles implantation and alendronate 0.3 mg/kgweekly ip injection;one unit erythromycin group (D) received 30 mg Titanium particles implantation and ip injection EM 2m g/kg/day on the next week; two unit erythromycin group (E) ip injection EM 2m g/kg/day on the next day of 30 mg Titanium particles implantation; two weeks later mice calvaviae were harvested .The EM and ALN efficacy was evaluated by Micro-CTand histology. Results : Micro-CT analysis showed that bone mineral density (BMD)and bone volume percentage (BVF) were significantly higher in the EM,Aln treated group(CDE) compared to the Ti group(B),(p<0.05);BMD and BVF were significantly higher in the Control group (A) compared to the Ti group(B),(p<0.05); histology analysis had a similar result with BMD. Conclusion:Erythromycin and Alendronate can effectively inibite Titanium particles induced in vivo calvarial osteolysis .
