Objective:To observe the clinical effects on the refractory immune thrombocytopenic urpura (RITP) treated by supplementing qi and nourishing yin, reconciling venation. Methods:According to supplementing qi and nourishing yin, recociing venation, a serial of traditional Chinese herbs, including Huangqi, Shudihuang, Shuiniujiao, Yangtigen, Lujiaojiao, Zhongjiefeng, Xianhecao, Sanqi, were compatibled.22 patients diagnosed as RITP, were required to the administration of glucocorticoids and/or other immunosuppressive agents combined with Chinese medicine decoction(the form group). The other 20 patients were treated only by pure Chinese medicine decoction(the later group). One therapeutic cycle proceeding was 28 days (four weeks). All the index, including clinical efficacy, peripheral blood platelet counts, glucocorticoids withdrawal and so on were evaluated and observed at least three cycles. Results:The excellent, improving and progressing effect rate in the former group was total to 90.90%, and the rate was 80% in that of the later group. Compared to the later group, the mean blood platelets counts in the former group elevated from (32.95±21.55) to (96.39±70.22)×109/L. At the same time, the mean doses of glucocorticoids declined from 24.25±14.17 mg to 14.71±13.97 mg. Eventually,5 patients in this group were free of glucocorticoids and/or other immunosuppressive agents after three therapeutic cycles. Conclusion:Supplementing qi and nourishing yin, recociling venation is reliable and potential in treatment of RITP. It is valuable in elevation of the blood platelet counts, improvement of the symptoms of hemorrhage, attenuation of western medicine side effects.
