Objective To discuss the predictive value of Homocysteine in coronary artery stenosis. Methods 81 subjects who underwent coronary angiography from Affiliated hospital of Qinghai University were recruited in this study.,Cases(n=57) with 75% stenosis in at least one of the three coronary vessels were angiographically defined as having coronary heart disease (CHD).Subjects (n=24)had 0% stenosis in all the three coronary vessels were considered as controls.CHD cases were divided into single vessel (n=34) and multi-vessel group (n=23). Plasma homocysteine was measured within 1 week before angiography in all subjects. Results Mean plasma homocysteine level was significantly higher in coronary patients than in controls [p<0.05] .Homocysteine level in the single vessel group or multi-vessel group were significantly higher compared with that in the controls [p<0.05]. The level of homocysteine in the multi-vessel group tended to be slightly higher as compared with that in the single group, while the difference was statistically insignificant (P>0.05).Conclusion Homocysteine level is elevated in patients with coronary heart disease. The high level of blood Hcy is a vital risk factor and it's an impoirtant means for preventing and treating the coronary heart disease...
