Objectives:To describe the status quo of work-family conflict, coping styles and job satisfaction of clinical nurses;to clarify the differences of work-family conflict of clinical nurses in the general population characteristics;to explore the relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction of clinical nurse.Method:Non-experimental study was used in this study, clinical nurses for the study were randomly selected from two 3 A-level general hospitals in Jilin Province.A total of 700 questionnaires was inssued, and 578 questionnaires were usable. Four measurement instruments examining general demographic characteristics about clin-ical nurse, work-fanmily conflict, coping styles and job satisfaction were used in this study. The date collected was analyzed by SPSS13.0, statistical methods used in this study included descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson corre-lation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis.Results:1. The status quo of work-family conflict, job satisfaction and coping styles of clinical nurse(1) The level of work-family conflict of clinical nurse is high,the total score of work-family conflict was (53.36±10.49). Work Interference with Family is more sever than Family Interference with Work.(2) The total score of nurses'job satisfaction was(87.34±14.39). The score of eight dimensions followed by high and low were as follow:satisfaction with extrinsic rewards, family/work balance,scheduling, praise/recognition, Profes-sional opportunities, interaction,control/responsibility, co-workers.(3) The dimensions of coping styles sequenced from upper to lower were as follow:solving-problem, positive reinterpretation, behavioral disengagement, seeking social support, easing mood and avoiding or self-blame.2. The relationship between work-family conflict and general demographic characteristics of clinical nurseWork-family conflict of clinical nurse had differences on nurses'general demographic characteristics which include age, retaining types, working years, the night work shift, educational background, professional title, income, mari-tal, children, age of the youngest child, aged and family size. 3. The relationship among work-fanmily conflict and job satisfaction of clinical nurses.The relationship between Work-family conflict, Work Interference with Family, Family Interference with Work and nurses'job satisfaction was signify-cantly negative correlation.The relationship between Work-Family Conflict and solving-problem, social support was significantly negative correlation; the relationship between Work-Family Conflict and easing mood, avoiding or self-blame, behavioral disen gagement was significantly positive correlation; the relationship between Work Interference with Family and easing mood, avoiding or self-blame was signify-cantly positive correlation; the relationship between Work Interference with Family and solving-problem, social support was significantly negative correl-ation; the relationship between Family Interference with Work and social support was significantly negative correlation; the relationship between Family Inter-ference with Work and easing mood, avoiding or self-blame was significantly positive correlation.The relationship between solving-problem, social support, positive reinter-pretation and nurses'job satisfaction was significantly positive correlation; avoiding or self-blame and nurses'job satisfaction had a negative correlation.4. The effect of coping style on the relationship between work-family conflict and nurses'job satisfaction.Work-family conflict and coping style enter regression equation and adjust R square was 0.607 (P<0.01). Solving-problem*work-family conflict (β=-0.367, P<0.05),social support*work-family conflict(P=-1.838, P<0.01) and avoiding or self-blame*work-family conflict (β=1.284, P<0.05) enter regression equation and adjust R square increases 0.04 (P<0.01)Conclusion:1. The level of work-family conflict of clinical nurses is high and Work Inter-ference with Family was higher than Family Interference with Work;the level of job satisfaction was very low, the worst was rewards, secondly were family/ work balance and scheduling; the most frequently used coping styles were solving problem, positive reinterpretation and behavioral disengagement, the most infrequently used coping styles were easing mood and avoiding or self-blame.2. Age, retaining types, working years, the night work shift, educational background, professional title, income, marital, children, age of the youngest child, aged and family size were relevant to work-family conflict of clinical nurses.3. The relationship between Work-family conflict and nurses'job satisfaction was significantly negative correlation; The relationship between Work-Family Con-flict and solving-problem, social support was significantly negative correl-ation; the relationship between Work-Family Conflict and easing mood, avoiding or self-blame, behavioral disen gagement was significantly positive correlation; The relationship between solving-problem, social support, positive reinterpret-ation and nurses'job satisfaction was significantly positive correlation; avoiding or self-blame and nurses'job satisfaction had a negative correlation.4. The coping style regulate the relationship between work-family conflict and nurses'job satisfaction. Problem-approach coping (Solving-problem and social support) can reduce the negative effects on relationship between Work Interference with Family and nurses'job satisfaction, otherwise emotional-approach (avoiding or self-blame, solving-problem)coping can enlarge it.
