Objective:IL-2 and IL-6 could induce inflammatory reaction, while IL-10 could inhibit it. The purpose of this study was to explore the differences of levels of Interleukin-2(IL-2),Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Interleukin-10 (IL-10) in peripheral vein and infarct-related coronary artery (IRA) blood-serum in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. And we investigated the influence of atorvastatin(dosage 80mg) administered to patients with STEMI before primary PCI on levels of IL-2,IL-6 and IL-10 both in peripheral vein and IRA blood-serum.Methods:From March to December in 2009 76 cases of STEMI were admitted in our hospital. These patients with STEMI who accepted primary PCI. All patients were assigned into atorvastatin group and control group randomly. All of them were pretreated with aspirin (300 mg orally) and clopidogrel (600 mg as a loading) just before PCI. Atorvastatin group (n=39) took 80mg atorvastatin while control group (n=37) didn't before PCI, but zhe other therapy was same. After PCI, the two groups took 20mg atorvastatin everyday and anticoagulant drug according to guide.Blood samples were obtained from the peripheral vein and IRA during PCI. Concentrations of IL-2,IL-6 and IL-10 in blood-serum of the peripheral vein blood and IRA were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results:(1) Comparison within group:The levels of IL-2 and IL-6 were significantly higher in IRA than peripheral vein blood-serum in two groups (P<0.05). But the levels of IL-10 were significantly lower in IRA than peripheral vein blood-serum in two groups (P<0.05)(2) Comparison between groups:the levels of IL-2 and IL-6 decreased significantly in atorvastatin group compared with control group both in IRA and peripheral vein blood-serum (P<0.05). The levels of IL-10 increased significantly in atorvastatin group compared with control group both in IRA and peripheral vein blood-serum (P<0.05).Conclusions:The levels of IL-2 and IL-6 were significantly higher in IRA than peripheral vein blood-serum in patients with STEMI.But the levels of IL-10 were significantly lower in IRA than peripheral vein blood-serum in patients with STEMI. Administered atorvastatin just before PCI could decrease the levels of IL-2 and IL-6 in patients with AMI. Administered atorvastatin just before PCI could increase the levels of IL-10 in patients with AMI. The study told us that earlier statin therapy could significantly cut down inflammatory reaction in patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction.
