The Clinical Observation Of Invigorating Kidney And Invigorating Spleen To Remove Phlem Of Diabets Combined With Hypertension

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect and to discuss the mechanism of Ping-Xiao-Qu-Xuan(PXQX) decoction, which is composed according to the principle of invigorating kidney and invigorating spleen to remove phlem , in the treatment of patients with diabetes and hypertension.Design: In this randomized study, a total of 60 patients with diabetes and hypertension were recruited. They were divided into the PXQX and control groups (n=30 each). All the patients were provided to knowledge education of diabetes and exercise therapy; and they were also given the low carbohydrates, low fat and low sodium diet. In the treatment of western medicine, Glimepiride Tablets (2mg,qd) and metformin (0.5 g, tid) were taken orally to control blood sugar,on the other hand,Valsartan Capsules(80mg,qd) was also taken orally to regulate the blood pressure. Beside the fundamental therapy,Chinese medicine therapy(PXQX decoction) was provided to the patients in the PXQX group; but in the control group, only the fundamental therapy were provided to the patients. Clinical symptoms, signs, blood fat, blood pressure, body mass index and endothelium function were observed before and after treatmentResults: There were significant improvements in therapeutic effect and symptom improvement in the PXQX group compared with control group when assessed at the end of this trial, the total effective rate of therapy were 90.1% and 72.2% in each group(P < 0.05). A greater percentage of patients in the PXQX group improved with the improvement rate 86.8% and 66.8% in control group(P < 0.05). In addition, some indexs such as the blood suger , HBA1c, blood fat, blood pressure, body mass index and endothelium function were all improved significantly in PXQX group,there were significant differences both in the group comparison and within the PXQX group(all P < 0.05).Conclusion: The therapeutic method of invigorating kidney and invigorating spleen to remove phlem is effctive to patients with diabetes and hypertension, and this study provide the theory and practical basis for the further research.
