Objective:analyse the STBI (severe traumatic brain injury, STBI) patients'serum natremia in the acute stage, attach importance to the STBI patients with hypernatremia, especially those with serum natremia>160mmol/L.Method:89 STBI patients, whose GCS≤8, were studied retrospectively. Analyse their serum natremia in the acute stage. All the patients were divided into groups according to different levels of serum natremia. Compare the groups'mortality rate.Result:50(60.9%)STBI patients go with hypernatremia. There were 9 (45%) patients died in the group of hypernatremia<160mmol/L,28(93.3%) patients died in the group of serum natremia>160mmol/L,2(6.3%) patients died in the group without hypernatremia. Compare the groups'mortality rate, The result have statistical meaning. Conclusion:The incidence rate of hypernatremia is high in STBI patients, hypernatremia is a obituary risk factor to STBI patients. The patients with serum natremia>160mmol/L, whose mortality rate is very high, should be paid attention to. TBI patients with serum natremia>160mmol/L have a bad outcome.
