China is one of the largest sugar consumption country in the world, sugar is daily goods andimportant industry material as well. With the increase of sugar consumption, self-sufficiency of sugarbecomes more difficult than ever before. The security for sugar balance between production andconsumption requests much higher efficiency in sugar production. Sugarcane is the most importantsugar crop in China, mainly grown in Guangxi and Yunnan Province. The limitation by drought andlower temperature in winter and spring when sugarcane is widely planted and sprouting in ratoon croprequests film covering in sugarcane cultivation. However, abundant rainfall and high temperature insummer and autumn are of advantages for weeds growth as well, which is very harmful to sugarcaneproduction causes decline in sugarcane yield.Aimed at providing sugarcane cultivation with reference on further utilization of herbicidal filmcovering and decreasing weeds harm. Three film mulching treatment no film covered, widely used filmcovering, and herbicidal film covering were applied to sugarcane field growing two cultivarsCYZ99-601and CYZ99-91. Parameters describing both sugarcane production such germination andtillering percentage in plant crop, sprouting percentage in ratoon crop, sugarcane yield and weedscharacters such species, density, dominant species, diversity were investigated and analyzed in thisstudy. In addition, technology for chemical prevention is applied and improved. The result indicated that, firstly, mulching treatment improved the percentage of germination andsprouting, hereby sugarcane yield was improved and significantly higher than that without film coveredor furrow covered only. As for sugarcane yield, no significant difference between normal film andherbicidal film was found. Secondly, two kinds of film covering decreased the species of weeds, lessweeds species was found in the treatment by herbicidal film covering. Film covering decreased thedensity of weeds. However, in the late stage, the density of weeds in herbicidal film treatment was muchhigher than that in normal film treatment. Continuous cropping contributed and accumulated abundantseeds of weeds in soil such as speciess Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn.,Cyperus rotundus L and, moreover, the selectivity of herbicidal film could be the causes. Thirdly, withregards to the field abundant in seeds of weeds Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Eleusine indica (L.)Gaertn., Cyperus rotundus L. etc, normally used film was more effective rather than herbicidal filmwhich decrease species of weeds and unbalance of weeds population. The herbicidal film trended tocontribute dominance of single weed species, and result in more serious harm by weeds. On the contrary, herbicidal film is effective for the field with less weeds' seed.In brief, film covering improved percentage of germination and tillering, could increase sugarcaneyield. It is effective for restraining species and density of weeds in sugarcane field to apply thecultivation practice of film covering in sugarcane planting during winter and spring in Yunnan Province.
