| Because of dynamic changes of plant color related information resources in a single way, not yet complete and systematic, designers often cannot form an understanding of quantitative information on the number of colors of plants in different seasons, especially underestimated on different plants of the same color in subtle differences of lightness and purity of color. It is not easy to create plants with colorful landscape using mystery of color and patterns. Therefore, it is worth exploring of creating an information database including the color of commonly used landscape plants for designers to use plant color features to design a landscape full of change.This topic under the theory guidance of Botany, Color Science, Colorimetric Science, Statistics, and Computer Science, starting from the color of landscape plants in Changsha, through surveying the color landscape of plants in Changsha and previous investigation of urban gardening plant color, made the surveying methods and basic framework of the color of plants in Changsha, that is the color collection and research on the leaves, flowers, fruit, branches of garden plants as a starting point, through using some methods like the data collection before investigation and the overall observations, colorimetric estimation with A-6NCS1950color card, and take photographs in site with the purpose of field survey of106kinds of common colors of garden plants in Changsha, selection of the most representative color to represent each plant organ-specific, record of the NCS color values of the different periods of plant which as the basis for analysis and summary of the composition of four seasons landscape color, and eventually application of Access to establish a commonly-used color database of garden plants in Changsha, which proposed the method of application database for the transfer of the plants color values of each season for plant landscape color design, achieved a combination of qualitative and quantitative, and made the mutual transformation between the abstract color designs and specific plant material in color design. Innovations in this paper are as follows:(1) The database includes the name information of38families,70genera and106species of commonly-used garden plants in Changsha, the major organs NCS color values in the composition of the four seasons of color and information of photos about individual or groups of plants in the four seasons, which meet functional requirements for the recording and maintenance of the color of landscape plants and convenient classification enquiries and access control.(2) The color data of same plant in different season within commonly-used information database of the color of garden plants in Changsha, accurate expression of the design features of a plant in each season, through the information query of the color values of plant in four seasons, which can meet designers for information query of plant color in different seasons and different branches of plants, and color information of the different plants in the same season and the same plant in different seasons, providing designers with the reference of color data source, has a real-practical operability.(3) The application on commonly-used color information data of garden plants in Changsha, exploring common approaches of the color design of landscape plants and combining with the excellent analysis of plant community landscape, further guide the color design of landscape plants. |
