As one of the famous ornamental plants with gentle shapes and variouscolors, Hyacinthus orientalis L. enjoys a high reputation around the world.Holland plays an important part in flower production as the largest cultivationand production base in the world,while in China,with the increasingimprovement of living standard, more and more people are very keen onHyacinthus.The sales volume on festival exhibition potting and waterplanting is increasing year by year.At present, Hyacinthus bulbs can't be propagated in China, most of themare imported from Holland. However, Hyacinthus are degenerated in manyareas of China with the atrophic bulbs, smaller plants,uglier flowers and lessornamental value due to the climate factors. Therefore,our study on growthand propagation of Hyacinthus bulbs has practical significance to enlargedomestic market.Take pink line Shangnong zhongfen,bule line Shangnong shenlan,X-Blue,red line Jan Bos as four Hyacinthus testing examples,this studydiscusses the rules between the growth of plants and the grades of bulbs through the field cultivation and propagation of Hyacinthus bulbs;this studyalso shows the relationship between chlorophyll content of leaves,photosynthetic rate of plants and propagation of bulbs by analyzingcharacteristics of photosynthetic Shangnong zhongfen and Shangnongshenlan.The results are as follows:1. Cultivate and vegetative character of Hyacinthus bulbsHyacinthus bulbs can grow,blossom and bear fruit in Shanghai area.Because of the colder weather during later2010and early2011,four kinds ofHyacinthus bulbs came out later than before. The growth of Hyacinthus bulbsin different grades have a certain regularity: the bigger bulb has the earlierseedling and higher, even plant; the larger average leaf area of the singleplant has the higher scape and more floret numbers,which enhance theenjoyment of the plant.2. Propagation of Hyacinthus bulbsThe four exampled Hyacinthus bulbs grow well in Shanghai area.Hyacinthus bulbs propagate well in one growing season. The study showsthat: bigger bulb has bigger reproduction coefficients of the same variety; dueto the different pre-and post propagation quality ratio, the big bulb has alower yield growth percentage, while the small bulb has a higher one.3. Research on Photosynthetic Characteristics of Hyacinthus bulbs Through analyzing leaf chlorophyll concentration of Shangnongzhongfen and Shangnong shenlan, photosynthetic rate of plants andpropagation of bulbs, we find there is a positive correlation between thecontents of chlorophyll, the photosynthetic rate of plants and the propagationof Hyacinthus bulbs, that is the higher chlorophyll contents of the leaves,themore nutrients and minerals are accumulated,the higher output of bulbs.
