In the water-cultivating and the pot experiment, BS-12 and Cd2+ were conducted in single and complex condition on germination and growth of water spinach, the conclusions were showed as following:1. The seed germination of water spinach were studied in separate and compound of Cd2+ and BS-12: the lower concentrations (5 mg·L-1) of Cd2+ could promote germination and growth of water spinach, as the germination rate, the germination potentiality, the stem length, the root length were higher than the treatments CK, the content of MDA was lower than the treatments CK. while Cd2+(≥5 mg·L-1) was toxic to water spinach germination and growth, as the germination rate, the germination potentiality, the stem length, the root length were lower than the treatments CK, the content of MDA was higher than the treatments CK. The concentrations (≥50 mg·L-1) of BS-12 could decrease germination and growth of water spinach, as the germination rate, the germination potentiality, the stem length, the root length were lower than the treatments CK, the content of MDA was higher than the treatments CK. In the same Cd2+ concentration, Lower concentration of BS-12(≤50 mg·L-1) can mitigate the toxicity of Cd2+ to germination and growth of water spinach, while raising toxicity with increasing BS-12 concentrations.2. Effect of Cd2+ in soil on the water spinach growth were studied, in the Cd2+ (≤5mg/kg) concentrations, the plant height, the root length, the content of SOD and Chlorophyll content of water spinach increased first, then decreased with increasing Cd2 + concentrations, while the content of MDA decreased first and then raised with increasing Cd2+ concentrations.3. In modified soil of BS-12, BS-12(<1%) can promote the growth of water spinach, with 0.5% BS-12, root length, plant height, chlorophyll content were maximum value. while the growth of water spinach was decreased with increasing BS-12(>1%) concentrations, with 8% BS-12, root length, plant height, chlorophyll content were minimum value.4. Effects of BS-12 and Cd2+ on water spinach growth: 14 days, in the same Cd2+ concentration, Lower concentration of BS-12(≤0.5%) can mitigate the toxicity of Cd2+ to water spinach growth, as the plant height, the root length, the content of SOD and Chlorophyll content were higher than without the BS-12, 5mg/kg Cd2++0.5%BS-12, growing indexes were maximum value. 35 days, while could raise toxicity of water spinach growth with increasing BS-12 concentrations. At the same time, in the modified soil of BS-12, the concentration of Cd2+ in root and leaves of water spinach decreased with increasing BS-12 concentrations. Modified soil of BS-12 could mitigate the toxicity of Cd2+ to water spinach and could inhibit plant absorbing Cd2+.5.The water-cultivating and pot experiment method showed: the co-existing of BS-12 and Cd2+ could show two kinds of action on the germination and growth of water spinach, Lower concentration of BS-12 could mitigate the toxicity of Cd2+ to water spinach and higher concentration of BS-12 could strengthen the toxicity of Cd2+.
