Tower crane is the main lifting equipment for high-rise building,at the sametime it is a high-risk outdoor special equipment which requires very highreliability. It is hard to collect the stress distribution of tower crane's metalstructure in the whole service life due to long-term service and the complexity ofthe situation. This brought greater difficulty to the research of the reliability oftower crane's metal structure. And there is also no agreed standard aboutscrapped standard of it at present. In order to determine whether the servicetower crane is able to work safely or not, the mathematical model aboutreliability analysis of the tower crane is built according to stress-strengthinterference theory. The stress state of the tower metal structure is studied byusing the method of FEA.Then the metal structure of tower crane in service lifeis studied. The basic theory and evaluation criterion of reliability is summarized, according to the stress-strength interference theory and the characteristics ofstress and strength in the working of tower crane. Then the mathematical modelabout reliability analysis of the tower crane is built. The modal of a working tower crane is built by the finite element software.Several circulation of tower crane is simulated, the stress-time history of themetal structure of the tower crane is obtained, The stress amplitude and cyclenumber is counted by the rain-flow counting method, and the probabilitydistribution model of the stress of the metal structure is built by use of themathematical statistical method, and then tests it, it verifies that the stressamplitude of the metal structure refuses to obey the lognormal distribution. Finally, through the example analysis, the reliability of the service tower crane iscalculated, and the different values of reliability corresponding to the serviceyear are obtained.
