With the development of the core technologies of cloud computing, cloud manufacturing application appeared in the field of manufacturing. Cloud manufacturing was a new manufacturing model based on cloud computing, which was still in the early research stage. How to build a cloud manufacturing platform and provide various kinds of manufacturing resource services for distributed customers were still in the preliminary stage.In this paper, some advanced manufacturing modes, including the computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), the application service provider (ASP) and the manufacturing grid (MGrid) were analyzed. With the combination of cloud computing, the structure of the cloud manufacturing system and the functional requirements of the cloud manufacturing platform were studied. The requirements and methods of the resource encapsulation were put forward for the cloud manufacturing structure.In this paper, the core technologies of cloud computing-virtualization and SaaS technologies were used, and virtual machine cluster were established in VI3 environment and various types of hardware and software resources were packaged using the technology of virtualization. A Web-based prototype system of cloud manufacturing was initially established in the environment of X86. Distributed database system and real-time database system were established based on the secondary development of MySQL. With the technologies of database and Google File System (GFS), resources management, task decomposition and assignments based on the historical tasks'information were studied, achieving the efficient management and the remote sharing on some manufacturing resources. The main contents of the paper were as follows:ChapterⅠdescribed the projects of this paper and their main research contents. The relevant research areas'situation and development trends were outlined in this chapter. Finally, the main research contents and structure of this paper were introduced.ChapterⅡanalyzed the functional requirements of cloud manufacturing service platform and put forward five support modules for cloud manufacturing service platform, including Web service support module, business models and platform monitoring support module, task decomposition supports module, resource scheduling platform support module and resource package support module. All the support modules were analyzed on functional model in this paper.In chapterⅢ, Several key technologies of the cloud manufacturing system were analyzed. The basic package specification, representation method and encapsulated method of the resource were researched. And the task decomposition models based on the historical task statistical and the resource management and matching based on the data tables were proposed. And then, the virtual technology was analyzed and the methods of virtual package of several kinds of hardware and software resources were provided. Finally, the technology of virtual machine cluster, and the service-provide manner for the Web client were introduced.In chapterⅣ, the construction method of the cloud manufacturing prototyping system was researched. The construction methods of virtual machine cluster and virtual desktop pool which supported the manufacturing prototyping system were studied. Distributed database system and real-time database were established using the database system of MySQL. Finally, the development of the Web services platform was discussed.In chapterⅤ, taking the process of motor product development as an example demonstrated some resource sharing services which belonged to the cloud manufacturing prototyping system, including CRM, virtual desktop application, PDM and remote electromagnetic design software access based on the Web.In chapterⅥ, the paper was summarized and the further works of the cloud manufacturing prototyping system were pointed out.
