The Rehabilitation Of Buildings And Landscape In Xiaozhoucun Of Guangzhou

As a combination of comb-like pattern and net-like waterland, Xiaozhoucun reflects the typical features of Guangdong villages and Lingnan waterland in a scene of both its buildings and landscape. Besides, the changes of times also give it some special styles. Great challenges and opportunities arrive together with changes of industry and the integration of urban and rural areas . Thus, there is also a great need of related investigation and design to control and guide the improvement of Xiaozhoucun's buildings and landscapewith this trend and background to begin with, this thesis summarizes current situation of Xiaozhoucun's buildings and landscape , taking systematic survey of it both macroscopically and microscopically. In addition, this research works out the guiding rules of rehabilitation and provides some practical designs in detail by giving examples to deal with some actual problems. So it is expected to enrich the construction theory and its application to new socialist countryside nowadays in China.The thesis is divided into 3 parts, including 6 chapters:The first part (Chapter 1) is theoretical overview. It studies the background,current research situation,its significance,targets,content and methods of the research.The second part (Chapter 2, 3, 4) studies current situation. Through a large amount of investigation, it discusses the influences on Xiaozhoucun's buildings and landscape, which have derived from its historical evolution, including its entire layout, patterns of space shape, culture and art, and changes of industry as well.The third part (Chapter 5, 6) is the main part of the thesis. Based on the studies already made above, it works out a strategy of rehabilitation of Xiaozhoucun, and tries to solve some present problems. Furthermore , it gives a practical design to protect the buildings and landscape scene of this traditional village, resorting to the related laws and rules,upper planning , analyses of the present state of the buildings and landscape, and in turn certain effective methods to rehabilitate and refresh this village are given.In the end, the conclusion chapter summarizes the thought of rehabilitation of Xiaozhoucun's buildings and landscape scene, in hopes of enriching the related construction theory with this research into Xiaozhoucun ----a study of such a typical case .
