The rotor is the core component of rotating machinery equipment, rotating devices can work depends on whether the normal status of the rotor. Therefore, the accurate and timely diagnosis of rotor is very important. Expert system, also known as intelligent system, is the most active field and applied prospect branch of artificial intelligence. The intelligent system applied to the rotor fault diagnosis, can enhance the efficiency of fault diagnosis with effectively preserving and using expert knowledge and experience. This paper discusses the design and implementation of rotor fault diagnosis intelligent system. Firstly introduces the significance and background of the establishment and an overview of mechanical diagnosis, rotor faults, and intelligent systems; then introduces the intelligent system structure, and various main technologies used in components, including knowledge representation, case representation, reasoning mechanism et cetera. With comparing these technologies involved, the design of system is proposed. Then, through the common fault feature of rotor categorized, as well as research and analysis of intelligent system related technologies, the key elements and the overall framework of intelligent fault diagnosis of rotor system are studied. Focusing on the method for constructing knowledge system and reasoning engine which as the core of intelligent diagnosis system fault diagnosis, object-oriented programming language for system software architecture in accordance with the established. Finally on the basis of the study, a set of rule-based reasoning (RBR) and case-based reasoning (CBR) in the intelligent diagnostic expert system was researched and established. This system can either use the related fields of expertise and experience can use the previous diagnosis, the two complement each other, the fault diagnosis system to improve the capacity and accuracy of classification. Using simulated and real data instances of failure, the diagnostic reasoning capabilities of the system was verified basically.
