Yunnan Local Architectural Creation And Regional Correlation

Yunnan local architectural creative work is closely correlated with regionality. This paper is based on local architectural creative work starting from Yunnan local architectural creations of regular pattern, so that we can further study the architectural and practical work from a research view. As a pioneer of Yunnan local architectural creative work, Mr. Rao Weichun had worked in Yunnan for more than fifty years, he deeply understands the correlation between creative work and practical work; for many years working and living in Yunnan, he formed the "local consciousness" and this consciousness was embodied in his work and research perfectly. This paper adopts Mr. Rao's understanding on old architectures, creative ideas and architectural finished works, leaves many references for research on today's Yunnan local creative work and current conditions.The first part begins with the natural environment, cultural identity and traditional technologies to study the correlation between Yunnan local architectural creative work and regionality. Combined the effects of above three aspects forms the regional characteristics of Yunnan's architectures, this effects greatly on designing strategy on local architects.The second part places Mr. Rao back to the times, uses "locality" and "regionality" as the start piont of designing architectures, his personal view, design, creative ideas and architectural works was studied to find useful ideas and methods.Finally, based on the local community, verifies the trends of today's diverse Yunnan local creative work, and analysis the reason of today's phenomenon. Look back on the development of Yunnan local architectural creation achievements and reflect difficulties we have faced, all need to start from the nature of the problem to understand reality. Thus the architects of Yunnan need construct their own "local consciousness", this awareness is not just "self-identity", but also includes "self-criticism." However, this awareness will only rise to the level of theory of "Yunnan architecture" to guide the architects better on their local architectural designs, and ultimately usher in Yunnan local architectural creative work of a better tomorrow.
