A Research Into The Ecological Restoration Landscape Design For Mining Wastelands

With the decline of traditional industries and the "retreat into three" of the industrial structure adjustment, industrial wastelands in our country have gradually become the fragile part of city development and ecological improvement. Mining industry provides power and security for the development of national economy, but also brings a series of ecological and social problems. Mining wastelands not only pollute the environment and destructs the landscape, but also are great waste of land resources. As one kind of industrial wasteland, although there are some design cases and research documentations related to mining wastelands, but there is little systematic and unified design theory. For the need of practice and to fill the knowledge gaps, this paper aims at making a systematic analysis about the renewal theories and methods on mining wastelands, so that to establish a landscape design theoretical system on ecological restoration with the sustainable development of land resources.Based on collecting and reading a lot of literatures, this paper summed up the main concept, types, characteristics, reutilization ways and meanings of current mining wastelands transformation; reviewed the reconstruction process of mining wastelands; selected the representative and different reuse cases so that to analysis the differences between home and aboard in transformation; summarized the common design ideas and techniques in renewal mining wastelands. All above is the basis for putting forward the ecological restoration landscape design theory.With drawing lessons from the successful experience of the West in wasteland reconstruction, combining our national condition and absorbing the ecology, the geology, the economics, the sociology and the aesthetics theories, this paper puts forward the theoretical framework of ecological restoration landscape design , elaborates the basic concept, principles, characteristics of this design theory, lists the guiding ideologies and design methods, clears the steps, analyzes the application prospect of this theory in China referring time, capital, technology and other aspects ,and the mining wastelands renewal activities were proposed.As a humanized and scientific theory and method, the purpose of ecological restoration landscape design is paying attention to the common development of all lives, landscape design is dominant and ecology is the goal. Through pursuing the spirits and geographical characteristics of mining wastelands, the ecological restoration landscape design continues city cultural context and realizes the cultural value of this site. By meeting the needs of people in emotion, education and training, it is implementing social value of the site. Besides, the improvement of landscape environment and the recovery of ecosystem achieve ecological value of the area. In general, the ecological restoration landscape design expects to obtain the maximum ecological benefit, economic benefit, culture and social benefit of mining wastelands restoration and this research has an important practical significance for China's mining heritage protection and mining wastelands restoration.
