The Research On Protection And Renewal Strategy Of Shuixiangkou Demonstration Area Of Arcade Historical District In Haikou

Shuixiangkou street located in the city of Haikou, Hainan Province, on the south bank of Haidian river. The street has a 300-year history. It was called Gangkou road before. After removing the wall of the City of Haikou in 1924, people filled river channel, widen the road into water, Shuixiangkou street was planning into the colonial-style arcade street of Southeast Asia. June 10, 2009, Haikou arcade historic district selected to be one of the "Top Ten historic street" . Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Board support the selection. Shuixiangkou Block has excellent historical value, cultural value, artistic value. the wave of building an international tourism island in Hainan Province, promote the of historic district. As Shuixiangkou block is the demonstration area, the work of protection will first began here. This paper discusses the protection and renewal strategy of the Shuixiangkou block.This paper first studies the characteristics of the arcade street and arcade building features ,in order to provide evidence of protection and renewal work to the specific text for the arcade streets and arcade building. Then research the entire arcade historic district of Haikou city. After that made a careful investigation of demonstration area district of the Shuixiangkou block. Summary of research data, studies the main problems is facing. And combine with theoretical study, from macro level and micro level,figure out the protection and renewal strategy framework of Shuixiangkou block. At last under the guidance of the protection and renewal strategy framework ,carry out a detailed protection and renewal strategy of Shuixiangkou block.At the macro level study of protection and renewal strategy, focus on the block development strategies; At the micro level study of protection and renewal strategy, with concrete examples, focus on Arcade facade design strategy and rebuilding arcade strategy.
