Warehouse is the place for enterprise storage, its store function is one of the most important components of functions in enterprise logistics system. Warehouse often holds lots of fixed capital, and is also one of the sources which cause production cost. So, warehouse management has been concerned by increasing people. Packaging area is the main domain of the warehouse and the carrier of material packaging, it is also the key of controlling the storage cost and improving the efficiency of the warehouse. Operational efficiency will be improved as well as storage cost will be reduced by well planning the packaging area and well designing the flow of work. Therefore, packaging area optimization has practical significance.IE is a management optimization idea for saving the cost and eliminating the waste, it can provide enterprise with a method and a skill to promote the systems operation. This article is based on IE, and applies the basic theory of IE, such as process analysis, motion analysis, time analysis, and logistics system planning and design principles, into practice of TJ warehouse, then solve the practical problem such as low efficiency and layout chaos in the TJ warehouse.This article firstly describes the domestic and foreign research results on IE and summarizes the basic theories related to the article. Then, it describes the status of packaging area in the TJ warehouse, and draws out the layout drawing and work flow chart. Thirdly, problems existed in the packaging area are analyzed and summarized according to the chart. Fourthly, a working group on packaging is established and work positions are fixed after packaging process optimization which applied the process analysis. Limited packaging area is fully used after layout improvement which applied the principles of layout planning and motion economy. Packaging motions are designed by applying motion analysis and time accounting is done by MOD method. Finally, the proposed optimization is validated by the comparison.
