After experienced rapid growth stage of urbanization, China has realized the importance of the pedestrian traffic for urban development and the importance of people's lives. Pedestrian traffic is not only an important mode of transportation in the city, it is also essential to daily life elements of life. How to change the "car-based" status quo, and improve pedestrian transportation's system functionality and quality of its environment, and thus to provide better pedestrian walking space, which is not only the welfare of pedestrians, but also the important tool to promote urban development, adjusting the structure of urban transportation. Shanghai is China's economic center and an important benchmark for the other cities. Xujiahui is a major city center in Shanghai, charged with the transportation center and commercial center of the dual identity. Xujiahui, who occupies an important geographical location of urban and strategic significance ,facing with increasingly fierce people and vehicles , what solution would it take to resolve the conflict approach; what problems are in the current walking transportation system and how to improve the system; finding the answers to these questions is not only for the Xujiahui object of study with great significance, but also to the other large cities'commercial centers in China.This paper first analyzed the pedestrian traffic system elements in the core area of Xujiahui; then used questionnaires, field research, inquiries and other means, to understand the characteristics of Xujiahui district, and the current pedestrian transportation system, analyzed the situation, found the problems and their causes. Then aiming at the problems for the current situation, it analysis of domestic andpedestrian traffic system construction for examples, learn from their experience, and to find possible solutions. Last, proposed methods for improve the pedestrian transportation system from three levels: ground , under ground , and the second floor. Each of them has their own division, but also interrelated to form a complete, complex system of pedestrian traffic. Further, to improve pedestrian environment and increase pedestrian accessibility, to increase regional business value.
