HM301 silicone rubber was used as high temperature resistant adhesivein the radome of an air to air missile. The rain erosion protective cap ofradome bonded silica ceramic by HM301 silicone rubber. The cap loosedwhen we carried out a routine-test on the radome. The radome should be airseal in the life. The experimental and theoretical study on the application ofHM301 in the high temperature heat attack is described in this paper. Thefailure mechanism of the cap becoming looser under the routine-testenvironmental condition was analyzed, and the solution was presented. Theresult of the simulated environment test has revealed that the cap loosedafter the missile autonomous flying and the system failure statistics showthat the solution is effective.Measures to prevent the cap free form theradome has been adopted in research and manufacture. The achievements inpaper have the important meaning for the follow-up of missile productsmanufacturing.Only HM301 silicone rubber which is organic matter had been used in the missile structure connection. The service life of HM301 silicone rubberunder the special environmental condition, as the major factors which havesignificant effect on the reliability of missile, was analyzed in this thesis.Using tensile shear strength as the characteristic index and referring to theresult of environmental examine testing, the service life of the adhesive wassynthetically assessed through thermal oxidation accelerated ageing tests. Itis concluded that service life of HM301 silicone rubber under the specialenvironmental condition can be used for 15 years or much more. Theconclusion is very useful for design.A simulated test method of heat attack is expatiated in this paper andlife assessment of HM301 silicone rubber is proposed using mathematicalmodel technique. Through fully environmental examine test, the results hasbeen proved applicably, originally and advanced, which can be widely usedin the field of rockets and missiles.
