BasiBasic Theory And Case Study Of The Division Of Drinking Water Source Protect Area For Groundwater

Now, water crisis and security of drinking water were already the hot issues of theworld. The general decrease of water quality lead to serious lack of water for waterpollution. Division of drinking water source areas scientific and rationally was thebest way to keep high quality of drinking water. Studies on this subject has alreadybegun for several years.Based on the related background, significance, the technology and methods of thedrinking water source protection areas for groundwater, this paper divide the drinkingwater source protection areas of two typical regions in Gannan zone with empiricalformula method. And the results as follows:1) During the division of drinking water source protection areas for groundwater ofDiebu County and Maqu County, the use of empirical formula method was based ondaily production of the drinking water source area and the available data of hydrologicgeology.2) With the geological survey and the pumping test of every water intake well, theaquifer media, permeability coefficient, hydraulic gradient were used to calculate thescope of protection area. The drinking water source protection area of Diebu Countyinclude aquatic and terrestrial. The key protection area was 0.13km~2, and the secondprotection area was 5.23km~2. That area of Maqu County only on the land. Because ofthe distance among every water intake well was long, the key protection area wasdivided into two areas, but the second protection areas were overlapped and made theperipheral wiring as the boundary.3) The empirical formula method was convenient and visual, the request forhydrologic geology data was not strict, computational complexity was also small, so itwas suitable for the area where the data was not so complete. But the empiricalformula method was subjective when determined the parameters, and made the resultof water source protection area dividing not precise enough.4)This paper was about the division of drinking water source protection areas forgroundwater, but considering of the water intake wells were near to the river on theground, the river should be protected as well. The drinking water source protection areas for Waba River was divided by method and technology for river.After the theoretical calculation and division, the boundaries of water sourceprotection areas should be adjusted to the actual situation in order to protect thequality of drinking water better, and can be helpful to the administration of the protectareas.
