China expressway industry has become the pillar industry to pull national economy growth and promote local economy development because of the rapid development in resent years. China is known for her massive land and numerous mountain area. the nation's total 2/3 for mountain. Expressway through mountainous area usually adopt tunnel to get through the mountains. In recent years the nation's expressway construction scale improved obviously. size and quantity of tunnel construction also vastly improved, especially in China's western mountainous area, where emerged in many large tunnel groups. So requirements for tunnel construction also constantly improved, not only in the tunnel scale, length, span and buried depth, etc, but also in the tunnel's operation maintenance, traffic safety and disaster prevention and reduction. Disaster prevention relates to people's life and property security. Eespecially in nowdays, the national government attaches great importance to the research of comprehensive mitigation strategy. In such cases, the problems such as the rule and mechanism of highway tunnel accidents, tunnel traffic safety risk assessment, disaster relief and rescue, has become urgent problems needing to resolve.This paper relying on GuangWu expressway tunnel group in GuangDong province, aiming at the above problems, studied the following aspects:(1) Through the establishment of database, collected and screened tunnel fire cases of home and abroad, got statistical law of tunnel fire accident cases;(2) Study and analysis the traffic environment of GuangWu highway tunnel group, research to establish and quantitative highway tunnel traffic risk assessment index system for expressway tunnel,and made fuzzy comprehensive evaluation of traffic safety(3) Using the FDS software to do the fire numerical simulation, to contrast the influence factors of tunnel fire. And for the most unfavorable factor, this paper put forward suggestion on the disaster relief of GuangWu highway tunnel group;(4) According to the thoughtof linkage control, compiled GuangWu expressway tunnel linkage control plans, including emergency response when fire accidents.
