In the word, under the background of "globalization", climate warming, population explosion, resource depletion, environment pollution, land desertification, the Chinese regional construction causing more and more reflection of architects, especially traditional local-style dwelling houses with simple ecology concept becomes an important subject of research at home and abroad. The other is the effect of the culture of Central Plains.Saying from the big conception, the culture of Central Plains consists the culture connotation in nine provinces of Yellow River drainage area, the traditional dwellings of Zhongyuan which can expand to the area that based on the culture of Confucianism. Henan is in the middle of this area.Because of its geography,history and culture, the regional architecture of Henan has become the principal part of Central Plains architecture. The tradition and form of Henan cave of dwelling houses has become a carrier of the culture of Central Plains, and effect the course of Chinese traditional culture with the spread of the culture of Central Plains. This is the reason why it is a cultural visual angle of research on the Zhongyuan caves.The history of Henan cave of dwelling houses is not the range of architecture cases, but the developing history of the relationship of human, architecture and nature. This paper interpret the history evolution, basic type, regional and cultural connotation firstly. With cultural, geographical, social, economic level reveal occurrence and development regularity of cave dwelling, propagate its ecological and cultural qualities, protects existing caves, develop ecological architecture and inheriting the culture connotation of the caves of traditional residence.The research of traditional dwellings as a part of the research of cultural industry has significant meaning in Chinese social ecological development, special cultural protection and development.
