Both of the depletion of non-renewable resources of oil and automobile exhaust emissions in urban environmental pollution force people to find a more green way to travel. The electric bicycle as a new means of transportation came into being, it has many advantages, such as environmental protection, energy saving and others. Now it has been the first choice for travel. Brushless DC motor has merits including a simple structure, reliable operation, low noise and so on. Thus it has been the first choice for electric bicycle motor. Electric bicycle drive and control system is the research object, and as the main control core FPGA, it is analyzed studied exactly.First, this thesis introduces the electric bicycle vehicle structure, and technology trends of the brushless DC motor controller, and FPGA.Secondly, this thesis analysis and researches the brushless DC motor and the motor drive system, and at the same time studies some aspects including e brushless DC motor of the basic structure, working principle, Hall sensors and so on in depth. Finally introduces the principle of PWM modulation.What's more, because of that the FPGA is the main control center, so the FPGA technology is acknowledged from three sides including the chip structure, characteristics and application of FPGA technology. As EP2C5T144C8 is a key controller, therefore we give the related appropriate parameters.Moreover, the drive system is designed from the aspects of software and hardware. First, peripheral circuits include power modules, AD converter module and other supporting modules; drive module includes power switching modules, the protection module, phase detection module and so on. The design of software is focus on the PWM generation module.At last but not the list, debugging and simulating the hardware and software to verify that the basic functionality of the system can be achieved.
