The concise characteristic of Ming-style furniture is recognized by the world, it has a good shape ratio. Cabinets? functionality decides the diversity of the segmentation of its front view. So it is most obvious in all sorts of the Ming-style furniture of its geometrization.Based on the different ways of geometric division of the Ming-style cabinets? front view, from the Ming-style furniture related classic works, this paper selected22samples included most of the common forms of Ming-style cabinets. The drawings of the samples? front view are obtained through books or by means of the method of reverse perspective. It analysis the proportions in all the samples? front view through measuring or equisection method, include the ratio of the whole, the ratio of the main parts, the ratio between whole and local and the ratio of decorative parts. Then through comprehensive analysis of the proportions, it summarizes the Ming-style cabinets?sculpt features. The ratio of the whole, the ratio of the main parts, the ratio between whole and lo cal and the ratio of decorative parts are expressed by integer ratio relationship or root ratio, which are concentrated in a certain range. In other words, the shape ratio of Ming-style cabinets has obvious unity. At the same time, different types of cabinets, such as rounded-corner cabinets, square-corner cabinets and display cabinets, and cabinets with different volumes such as large, medium-sized and small cabinets, exist some differences in proportional distribution. The proportional relationship of some parts exists obvious preferences. For example, the overall contour and the single cabinet door outer contour preference for ratio of2:1, the ratio between the door height and overall height of the cabinets has a preference for5:6, the ratio between the leg height and overall height has a preference for1:10.Generally, there抯no simple bisection in the split ratio of the Ming-style cabinets? main parts. For example, the segmentation of ridden compartment and the railings on the open shelf often use approach three equal division ratio with intermediate slightly wider and on both sides a bit narrow. Some parts use equal basic segmentation at first, and then use other integer ratio for the second division, such as door segmentation. The formation of the rectangular segmentation generally make high rectangular and low rectangular in interphase arrangement. As for the actual and virtual section ratio, virtual parts in the whole proportion concentrated in the range of0.2~0.3. There are generally two ways of division the "virtual" and "actual" proportion. One is the integer ratio division of the cabinet in the overall height, so that the ratio between the virtual part and whole in height is commonly used for integer ratio. The other is using the integer ratio division of the main parts, so that the ratio between the virtual part and the actual part is commonly used for integer ratio. In the Ming-style cabinets, the proportion of outer contour of metalwork ornaments has a relationship with the proportion of cabinets overall and the proportion of outer contour of the door on which the metalwork ornaments installing. More specifically, such larger Face plate as round and regular polygon, usually installed on the contour of the door with ratio of1:1; About half of the metalwork ornaments? outline proportion is identical or very close to the cabinet抯overall outline proportion or the cabinet doorfi抯contour ratio. The metal hinge installed on the Ming-style cabinet has a more foursquare profile compared to its corresponding face plate. The larger ratio of the contour of the hinge it used, the larger ratio of the contour of the corresponding face plate it used. Generally, for the Ming-style cabinets who installed with two group metal ornaments, the structure and shape of the upper and lower face plate and the hinge are the same, but the ratio of their profile and position are always different.
