In this paper, the bamboo fiber reinforced polypropylene composite was prepared using double-steel belt press. The effect of bamboo fiber contents, the modified MPP contents and copolymer polypropylene type on the mechanical properties of composite sheets were investigated, and the interfacial characterizations of the composites were analyzed by SEM. Effects of fiber content, mass per unit area and thickness on the temperature rising speed of glass fiber premixed mat were studied also. The loft characteristics of light weight glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic(LWRT) and bamboo fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites (BFT) laminate were discussed in the case of heating by infrared plate and oven individually. The results showed that the fiber content had a great effect on the mechanical properties of the composites. The tensile strength is 48.3MPa, tensile modulus is 4590MPa, flexural strength is 71.7MPa, flexural modulus is 3440 MPa and impact strength is 50.7J/m in the case of bamboo fiber contents 30%, modified MPP content 4%, copolymer polypropylene M800 content 5%, but the loft rate of BFT is lower. The loft time required of composites laminate reduced from 8 minutes to 3 minutes when heating by infrared plate instead of oven. If the laminate thickness was less than 3mm, it was optimal to heating by bottom infrared plate. While the thickness was larger than 5mm, the up and bottom infrared plate should be used.
