The Main Body Of Its Responsibility For Science Communication

The activity of science communication, accompanied by the appearing ofscience and technology, is produced inevitably. Without science communication,which is so important a part, the social functions of science and technology cannot be performed well. As the initiator and controller in the whole sciencecommunication process, the bodies of science communication, which act as anessential role, play an important part in the activity. The theoretical research andpractice of science communication both require that we give it a scientific andreasonable definition.In this paper we will study the types and scopes of science communication.We think the bodies of science communication body include four classes,namely, government departments, scientists group, media staff, NGO(technology organizations, universities and research institutions, enterprises andso on). Generally speaking, these main bodies are the initiators of sciencecommunication, the gatekeepers and spreaders of science information andtechnological achievements. They are the real pro-active factors in the entirescience communication activities. In human history, during all the stages inwhich science and technology performed its function well, all these bodies musthave performed its main responsibility, strengthen their sense of responsibilityand conduct the responsibilities in science communication. In the contemporaryChinese society, there is a phenomenon of responsibility lacking. In this article,we will deeply analyze the functions of government departments, scientistsgroups, media staff and NGO, which act as bodies of science communication.We will also analyze the manifestations and causes of responsibility lacking,thus put forward the strategies on science communication for the government,scientists, the media and non-governmental organizations. The research showsthe smooth development of science communication activities is a systematicalproject, involving many elements. As for the functions of sciencecommunication bodies, this sub-element itself is also a whole system. So weshould strengthen the linkage between the bodies, strengthen communicatingcontents checks, create a feedback mechanism between the audience and the main bodies etc. These strategies contribute to a better comprehensive effect ofthe bodies on science communication, thus make knowledge of science andtechnology social and public, improve the national scientific quality, andaccelerate the process of science and technology turning into real productivity.
