The author conducted a study on the effect of reproductive strategy choice on reproductive fitness of Eurasian Nuthatches (Sitta europaea) inside artificial nest box in a secondary forest during March to July in 2009 and 2010 at Zuo Jia Natural Reserve, Jilin province.In the survey of 10 plots, a total of 60 nest boxes were occupied. The results showed that the time of building the nest between April 4 and May 19 and the hatching date of the first egg between April 14 and May 24 when there is no disturbance, The average clutch size of Sitta europaea in the artificial nest is 7.0±1.3,The average clutch size is 6.2±1.4,the average hatching rate is 88.5±20.0%, the average incubation period is17.7±1.7.In the study of the Sitta europaea about breeding time and reproductive fitness, we can see that the optimized clutch size of Sitta europaea is 6, hatching rate is(97.0±6.7%)and 7 hatching rate is(77.8±11.1%), with these clutch size,the Sitta europaea has the best reproductive rate,and the lowest clutch size of Sitta europaea is 9, the hatching rate is(97.0±6.7%).During the breeding time, we captured the 12 female Sitta europaea and measured their growth parameters.The males average mass is 18.1g, average length is 130.3mm,average bill is 25.1mm and average tarsus is 21.6mm, The correlating analyzing between the growth parameters and the parent building indicated that the tree bark mass and the males mass and tarsus is notability positive correlation(r = -0.898,p = 0.001), and the nest materials weight and the males tarsus is notability positive correlation (r = -0.608, p = 0.047). There is not notability correlation between the growth parameters and the reproductive parameters such as clutch size, hatching period, hatching rate.In the vegetation factor components analysis indicate that the first principal component is concealment under the nest and food; the second principal component is the concealment above the third principal component are the the kind of the nest tree, and the fourth principal components is the the height-require of the nest,these factors are the main factor of affecting the reproductive success of Sitta europaea.
