Object; This study aimed at using Event-related potentials (ERP) N400 to explore the processes and the differences in the brain cognition of the Uighur and Chinese bilinguals.Methods:16 Uighur-Chinese bilinguals and 15 Chinese were selected in Experimentâ… while 12 women illiterate of read and write in Uighur and 14 Uighur-Chinese bilinguals were selected in Experimentâ…¡. The ERP were tested using "picture-word" and "sentence-word" as start of stimulate, Uighur and Chinese as stimuli.composed of nouns and verbs. The subjects was asked to read the "picture-word" and "sentence-word" displaying on a computer screen while the ERP N400 were recorded with 10/20 systems using Neuraoscan evoked potential. Behavior response data include response time and correct rate, N400 wave, brain map were auto-recorded by computer. Then we analyzed the latency, amplitude, scalp distribution of N400 and behavior response data between the experimental and control groups, and the differences between different stimuli we also compared.Results:1 Behavior response1.1 The average correct rates of nouns were higher than verbs(P<0.01).1.2 The average correct rates of Uygur were higher than Han (P<0.05).2 Characteristics of N400 in Uighur and Chinese2.1 Characteristics of bilingual group2.1.1 Waveform characteristics: The latencies of N400 were longer in mismatch than in match, and the amplitudes of N400 were lower in match than in mismatch (P<0.05).2.1.2 The latencies and the amplitudes: nouns were shorter than verbs (P<0.05) while the parietal regions is the longest (P<0.05) in the latencies; nouns were higher than verbs(P<0.01),the parietal and central regions are higher than other regions(P<0.01),while the interaction of electrode position and parts of speech is significant, nouns were higher than verbs in every position in the amplitudes.2.1.3 BEAM features: frontal, temporal, parietal, occipital, central Victoria extensively involved in the cognitive processing of Bilingual; two languages are similar in neuronal activation process.2.2 Chinese of bilingual group and Chinese groupNouns were higher than verbs(P<0.01), the central regions are higher than other regions(P<0.01) while the interaction of electrode position and parts of speech is significant, nouns were higher than verbs in every position in the amplitudes.2.3 Chinese of bilingual group and Uighur blind groupNouns were shorter than verbs(P<0.05) in the latencies; Sentences were higher than in the pictures (P<0.01),The parietal and central regions are higher than other regions (P<0.01),while the central area was significantly higher than left and right hemisphere (P<0.01) in the amplitudes.3 The Interaction of N400 in Uighur and Chinese3.1 Differences of two languages N400 in bilingual groupChinese was longer than Uighur(P<0.01),While the interaction of language and parts of speech is significant, Chinese language verbs and nouns are longer than Uighur verbs and nouns in the latencies.3.2 Differences of Chinese N400 between bilingual group and Chinese groupUygur was longer than Han(P<0.01) while the interaction of nation and electrode position is significant, Uygur were longer than Han in every position in the latencies.3.3 Differences of Chinese N400 between bilingual group and Uighur blind groupThe latencies: Uighur Chinese bilingual group was longer than Uighur blind group (P<0.01) in the latencies.Conclusion:1 There are differences in cognitive activity between Verbs and nouns, nouns are more difficult than verbs. Chinese N400 is very sensitive on semantic priming effects. The processing difficulty of picture is lower than sentences of and support the process of lexical access semantic representation is non-automated.2 There are N400 priming effects in the two languages, and the amplitudes both has a top central edge. The cognitive activity is similar between Uighur and Chinese.3 The Chinese semantic processing of Uighur Chinese bilingual is quite unlike the Chinese native speakers, but tend to Uighur model. The study of the native language extended the duration of cognitive processing of the Second Language-Chinese.In Chinese cognitive processing the two hemispheres of the Uygur and Han bilingual may have cooperation completion on the division of work..
