The Research On Xue Fengzuo's Scietific Thoughts

Xue Fengzuo is a famous astronomer and an expert in calendar and mathematics. He is the first to introduce logarithm into China, did a lot of comprehensive research in astronomy, calendar and mathematics of China and the West, and made a great contribution to our country's development in technology, becoming a famous scientist home and abroad. In history, Wang Xichan and Xue Fengzuo are known as "Wang in the south and Xue in the north". Now, the study about Wang Xichan has already been very full. However, the study on Xue Fengzuo is still weak, which doesn't live up to its high reputation. Therefore, it is significant to strengthen the research on Xue Fengzuo.Due to the weakness of the study on Xue Fengzuo, now many specialists are doing research into him from every perspective, some do textural research from history of science and technology; some do analysis of thoughts from philosophy; some from history and some from historical and cultural background, which greatly promotes the study on Xue Fengzuo, leads men to know him again and judges again his status in the history of science and technology, especially the articles issued together in the proceedings of the Shandong University of Science and Technology. However, the researches above are just from certain perspective. There are few comprehensive articles about it. So in this article, researches are trying to be done from every perspective.As Xue Fengzuo produced a lot of works, this article chooses his representative one--- Li Xue Hui Tong--- to study. First, Xue Fengzuo's family is investigated. Second, the writing process of Lixue Huitong is analyzed. Then, on the basis of other scholars' points about Xue Fengzuo's contribution to the science, his contribution is studied comprehensively. And Xue Fengzuo's mode of Huitong and the use of Copernicus Architecture need discussing further. The emphasis of this article is to analyze Xue Fengzuo's thoughts on science, especially on calendar, Yixue and medicine. As elder scholars didn't pay much attention to them, in a sense the research is ground-breaking, although primary. Besides, the research on Xue Fengzuo's thoughts on Water Conservancy and mathematics are both carried on and improved, which are developed in the article. At last, judgment is made on the dream of Xue Fengzuo's Lixue Huitong.
